Wellbeing sessions & interventions
Wellbeing sessions provide focused, specialist support for children who are finding it difficult to manage their emotions. Struggles with emotional regulation can have a negative impact on a child’s behaviour, learning, and ability to form healthy relationships with others.
Wellbeing sessions can be especially helpful for children who are having difficulty getting along with friends or siblings, showing frequent emotional outbursts such as anger, frustration, or sadness, or experiencing grief after the loss of a loved one They can also be valuable for children navigating changes at home, such as parental separation, the arrival of a new sibling, or a family member’s health challenges.
These sessions are usually offered on a one-to-one basis and each session is personalised and follows a child-led approach—meaning the child sets the pace, helping to create a relaxed space where they feel safe to express themselves. A wide range of resources is available to support engagement, such as arts and crafts, board games, and sensory toys or activities.
Children take part in wellbeing sessions for as long as they need, whether that be just a school term or a full school year. Our goal is to help each child feel heard, understood, and supported in a space where they can grow emotionally and socially. With the right guidance and encouragement, children can build stronger coping skills, improve self-esteem, and develop more positive relationships with the world around them.
Our staff have been at the heart of many Wellbeing Sessions/interventions over recent years at our partner schools, for example St Philip’s Catholic Primary School and Didsbury CE Primary School.
