PSP's weekly blog

Welcome to the PSP blog! As always, we’re excited to share the latest updates on our sports coaching and childcare programs. This week, we’re reflecting on our brilliant progress in Summer Term 2!

🏃 Rounders, Races & Real Progress! 🥎

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the PSP Weekly Blog!

We’ve had another fantastic week delivering high-energy PE sessions across our partner primary schools, and it’s been incredible to see the progress the pupils are making—not just in skill, but in confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment of sport. This week, our focus has been on two classic summer activities: Rounders and Athletics.

🥎 Rounders: Skills, Strategy, and Smiles

The children have been loving their Rounders sessions! We started the term by breaking down the fundamentals—grip, stance, and striking technique—and we’re already seeing huge improvements.

This week, we introduced game play scenarios, helping the kids to think more tactically about positioning, fielding, and when to run. It’s been brilliant watching teams work together, cheering each other on and developing their communication. The improvement in hand-eye coordination and decision-making has been especially impressive in our Year 5 and 6 groups.

🏃‍♂️ Athletics: Building Speed, Strength & Self-Belief

On the athletics side, we’ve been running sessions on sprint technique, relay transitions, long jump, and endurance running. We’ve seen some real breakthroughs—kids who started the term shy about participating are now stepping up as leaders in warmups and giving 100% in every race.

We’re also timing sprints each week so students can see their own progress. Seeing their faces light up when they shave a few seconds off their personal best is why we love what we do!

Big shoutout to a Year 6 pupil who not only improved her sprint time by 1.2 seconds in three weeks but also volunteered to help a younger student master the relay baton changeover.

💬 What We’re Hearing

Teachers have told us that the children are coming back from PE more focused and energised, and even parents have been commenting on how enthusiastic their kids are about sport lately. This is what PSP is all about—building a lifelong love for physical activity and giving every child the chance to shine.

Why is coaching so important?

At PSP, we know that sports coaching plays a huge role in a child’s physical, mental, and emotional development. By integrating sports coaching into our childcare programs, we create a holistic environment where children can thrive, build friendships, and learn valuable life skills.

Through our P.E. lessons and holiday camps, children not only improve their fitness levels but also gain a sense of accomplishment and self-confidence. They learn how to work as part of a team, communicate effectively, and overcome challenges – all essential skills for their growth and development.
